Hello, I hope this finds you doing well and enjoying the changing season here in the NW. I have fun things to update you on in this newsletter so grab yourself a cuppa and sit with me for just a minute.
Office News: Recently I decided to expand a little and share my office space with a colleague. This is a situation called "independent contracting" as this person does not work for me in any way. Instead, she is her own boss and rents my fully furnished space a couple of days a week while growing her practice. Her name is Kaitlyn Daily and she is actually one of the few people that I am comfortable receiving bodywork from. We are colleagues, friends, and also family in a fun way that has no official title. Kaitlyn delivers excellent therapeutic body work that reflects her 3 years of experience working in a chiropractic office.
I share this with you because if you find yourself or a loved one in a pinch with needing care and my schedule is too far out; you might want to consider supporting Kaitlyn's new independent practice. You can find her FB page here Kaitlyn Daily LMT with easy online scheduling.
Small Business Excellence Award: I had a wonderful thing happen last month that I want to share with you. As many of you know, I am heavily involved with the Gresham Chamber of Commerce. Every year we have an awards ceremony that celebrates local businesses for their hard work in business growth and community care. This year, Healing Treasures Massage was honored to be chosen for the Small Business Award. I don't share this to brag. I share because I owe it all to you. I am here because you and your loved ones trust me in your therapeutic care. So while I was one one on stage receiving the award, I stood there and talked about you - my clients, my family and friends that have made my practice possible. I am so grateful to get to do what I do. Thank you.
Reflexology: As is always my goal, you find personalized care in my office that delivers both comforting relaxation and opportunity for therapeutic benefit. You have the options of light touch to deep tissue therapy and everything in between. You can opt for essential oils, CBD topicals, hot stones, hydrotherapy packs, and silicone glide cupping treatments as part of your session. I will help you understand the possible whys of what your body is 'saying' and offer suggestions on things you can do outside of massage therapy that give you benefit.
New this month; I am excited to announce I will begin offering reflexology sessions to your list of choices.
What is reflexology? The hands and feet are essentially maps to your entire body. By using certain mapping locations, clients can feel improvement with things like stress reduction, sinus clearing, digestive and circulation improvement, hormone support, and so much more. And it just feels so very lovely.
What does a reflexology session look like? A time of reflexology will begin with a detoxifying food soak and hand and forearm massage. This is followed by a focus on the harmonizing foot and low leg points for the remainder of the session. You can come in for a 30 or 60 minute reflexology session or pair it with a regular massage for extra comfort.
Who should not receive reflexology? As with any other treatment, there are times when it is not advisable to receive reflexology. This would include pregnancy, people experiencing active gout, unhealed wounds or acute injury, or circulation disorders that need prior doctor consent. If you have questions or would like help scheduling a session just let me know.
COVID / Flu / Cold Updates: I explained thoroughly in last month's email that clients of Healing Treasures Massage are both vaccinated and unvaccinated. Everyone masks regardless of their shot status and I clean completely in between each session.
That being said, if you are not feeling well (i.e. sniffles, fever, sore throat, stomach discomfort, shortness of breath, or cough to name a few symptoms) please do not come to your appointment. I don't want to send you away but I will. We can easily reschedule your time with no penalty. If you have any questions about this, please know I am here for you.
Also note that if you have received your booster, you need to wait at least 48 hours (preferably a week) before receiving massage. This is a rule that actually holds true for any shot that is coming to my mind at the moment. Even steroid injections have a 'local no massage' rule for 10 days following injection.
Well that is plenty to share for the moment. Thank you for sitting with me. I hope your October is filled with all the things that make your heart smile and your inner self feel the value of your treasured worth.
Always, I am grateful for your trust in having me be part of your wellness journey. I look forward to seeing you on your next visit. Until then, peace and wellness to you.

I hope this finds you doing well. Thank you so much for all your healing thoughts, prayers, and well wishes as I have spent time in recovery. Your understanding and patience helped as I worked on getting better. This whole experience has given me a new level of understanding in the complexity of how our bodies work and how we can feel day to day.
The calendar is once again open for scheduling. Appointments can be scheduled in multiple ways for your convenience.
MASKS & VACCINES
For clarity, I want to make sure it is understood that I follow the mandates set forth from the state. Masks are worn in my office as a safety courtesy for all, regardless of vaccination status. As always, when receiving massage in the face down position, I set the face cradle so that masks are not needed. In all other therapy positions, clients need to be masked. If this causees concern, let's discuss it and strategize together an effective therapeutic plan for your wellness.
It is also important to note that while regular medical clinics see all clients; there is a growing wave of massage therapists that are essentially only seeing clients who are vaccinated. I want you to be aware that this is not my stance. I see both the vaccinated and unvaccinated.
My stance as always, is that every body deserves the benefit that therapeutic massage has to offer them. A person who is immune compromised with a chronic need for masasge therapy and has not been vaccinated is just as important as the person who needs tharapeutic massage and has taken the vaccine.
For me, it is more than receiving a booster shot. Protecting one another has a lot to do with daily practice. If you will be patient with my analogy for a moment and understand that I am not debating on the validity of the shot, my analogy is this.... it is much like wearing a seatbelt. Is a person more safe with a seatbelt on? The answer is basically yes. But if that same person wears a seatbelt and then drives after drinking 3 beers; is the seatbelt going to help at all? Probably not, and the waves of collateral damage are high.
As the delta variant has shown us, we can be carriers in either situation of vaccinated and unvaccinated. So for me it has more to do with daily practice and care.
HIGHLIGHT THE CALENDAR
There seems to always be so many awareness opportunities on the calendar and September is no exeption to that. This month I want to highlight that September is National Courtesy Month. With everything going on these days, I recognise how much easier and safer it feels to put our heads down and close off the things around us. With masks on, we are no longer able to give a reassuring smile that bonds connection. And the threat of germs cause us to be even more deficit of regular vital human touch. But I encourage you to take a moment and see what you can safely and tangibly do around you to encourage someone else.

I hope this finds you doing wonderfully well today. March is already here and this is the time where I get to share with you all the happenings of Healing Treasures Massage so you can be “in the know”. Grab a lovely cuppa and let’s visit for a few minutes. In this issue you will find:
~Covid Current News~ ~Office Updates~ ~Dates to Remember~ ~Recipes~ ~Self Care~ & ~Special Offers~
Covid Current News
We definitely are in a time where news and learned information changes quickly. At this time I do want re-affirm that even if you have at some point tested positive for Covid or have had the vaccine, it is still the standard that you wear a mask during your appointment per CDC guidelines as well as the Oregon Board of Massage Therapy. If this is too difficult on your respiratory system, let’s talk about how we can work together to find a solution for your massage sessions.
Also, as things change and we learn more, doctors are finding that the vaccine can cause an inflammatory response in the lymphatic system. This is actually a pretty normal response as the body uses the lymphatic system to clean. That inflammation is a way to sort of ‘flush out the pipes’. I bring this up because for women especially, this can show itself as heavier monthly cycles, extreme breast tenderness, and even false positives on mammogram imaging. If you have received your vaccine and are experiencing this type of discomfort, don’t be alarmed. Your body is not betraying you. Talk with your doctor about what you are experiencing. Don’t avoid your mammogram. Those are important images to keep up with. Just let them know you have recently had the vaccine. Then, let’s talk about ways massage can help relieve that pressure and discomfort.
Last month I was able to add to the many types of things I can offer you by way of purchasing a hydrocollator. I know, what is the world is that, right? The easiest answer is that it is a device that gives me the ability to provide heated hydrotherapy with lightly weighted clay packs during massage sessions. Benefits of this type of therapy are that it enables circulation to open and eases joint mobility. And goodness it feels so good. Those who have tried it already say they can feel the heat gently permeate through their body and enables their muscles to feel more open for massage. While this type of therapy is beneficial for many; there are points of caution when taking anti-clotting medications. If you are interested in heated hydrotherapy, let’s talk about if it may be a good fit for you.
Dates to Remember
March 12th is Plant a Flower Day. Spring is creeping around the corner. Celebrate with a splash of color and get those happy dopamine hormones jazzed.
March 14th is Pi Day. Yes technically Pi is math. But then there is PIE! I think my personal favorite is anything with meringue.
March 22nd is National Goof Off Day. Start your week off with a giggle. Some easy ideas are mismatched socks, funny faced selfies, or a comedy movie to round out your day.
March 26th is National Spinach Day. This is my all time favorite super food. I can cook with it for a boost, add it to salad or even toss a couple handfuls into a smoothie.
For me, it is hard to stay hydrated when I am cold. Doing a flavor boost really helps me to want water. Keeping hydrated is an important part of staying healthy. It promotes cardiovascular health, keeps your body cool, helps your joints move and keeps your skin soft. Try adding a couple of slices of lemon or lime to your
Want to give someone in your life a relaxing foot massage? Grab some lotion and follow these instructions.
Use your thumbs to apply light pressure to the arch of their foot, right below the ball of their foot.
Move one thumb clockwise and the other thumb counterclockwise in small circles. Do this for at least 30 seconds.
Place your thumbs on opposite ends of their foot and move them toward one another. Do this at least three to five times, moving up and down the bottom of their feet, slowly not to tickle.
Repeat on the other foot.
Established Healing Treasures Massage clients like yourself have the benefit of purchasing pre-paid sessions as a great way to save up to 10% off. They have no expiration date and can be used by multiple people. Some businesses even choose to use this feature by keeping a balance of available sessions ’on tab’ as a means of celebrating their employees.
I want to give a grateful virtual hug of acknowledgement here to those who have contributed to the Pay It Forward program. We all have different seasons in which we are able to do and provide for others. Thank you for making it possible for those who are unable to financially afford therapeutic massage to be able to receive a session.
As I close this up today, please know how grateful I am to be a slice of your wellness journey. I take your trust and comfort seriously. If you have any questions or comments at all about the contents of this newsletter, or anything else for that matter, please reach out. I am here for you.
Peace and wellness to you in all you do.

Hello Treasured You,
I hope this finds you doing wonderfully well. Though I find it seemingly impossible that January is already gone, I look with pleasure to celebrating February with you. Here are all our important and fun updates for this month.
Now that folks are starting to receive the vaccine, here is an easy guideline for questions you may have.
Do you still need to wear your mask? For my practice, until the state guidelines change (including the OBMT Board and OHA) we will continue to wear masks as an added means of using safe precautions while interacting together. This includes all people who have either recovered from testing positive in the past or have received the vaccine.
When receiving massage, as you settle into the face down position, I do have the face cradle set up in a way that you can safely remove your mask if needed. In the face up or side laying positions, I do require that a mask be on.
For myself, I will be continuing to wear 2 masks at all times. I will also continue to wear my face shield when working close to your face.
Do you have to have the vaccine to receive massage? No. Some therapists are choosing to run their practice with a yes to that question. I will not make absolute statements like that. Instead, I would rather think about the comfort levels and health of each person in taking a vaccine. Some people have an immune system that isn't ready for the vaccine and that is ok. We will continue to do the pre-screening at the door and I will trust that you will continue to let me know when you are not feeling well.
If you have any questions about this, please let me know. I would be happy to discuss this more.
Fun calendar trivia helps to shake up the routine. Here are a few dates to keep in mind.

February 11: National Inventors Day - Take a moment to think about how our lives have been improved through the use of inventions. Thank you to all the inventors out there.
February 14: Valentine's Day – It is all too easy for a schedule to get bogged down with responsibility. To me, this holiday is an intentional reminder to stop and appreciate all the forms of love in our lives. So, to you I say - Happy Valentine’s Day!
February 17: Random Acts of Kindness Day – Who gains more benefit, the giver or receiver? Kindness is such a beautiful gesture all around. Here are some terrific ideas for random acts of kindness. https://www.randomactsofkindness.org/kindness-ideas

Here is the Pacific NW we are entering that time of year where we can feel the moisture settle into our bones and wonder just how many shades of grey are in the sky. Many studies show that taking ample amounts of Vitamin D can help with lifting our mood. Seasonal Affective Disorder can affect everyone so another great option is to invest in a SAD lamp. I purchased one this year for my office. While I started out being skeptical, I can now say it really does make a difference for me personally.
Epsom salts can be one of those household items that we all tend to have at one point or another. If you are anything like me, you might wonder if that bag of Epsom salts stashed under the bathroom counter was all used up or if it is rock hard from sitting so long.
After a therapeutic deep tissue massage session, a 15 minute salt soak can be greatly beneficial. For your convenience, I have single use salt packs available so you don’t have to ponder freshness. Available scents are:
As I wrap up this update, I want to sincerely express my thankfulness to you in trusting me to partner with you in your wellness journey. Thank you for your referrals as well. When you share on social media and to the loves in your life, it encourages other to know that there are options to their discomforts and stresses. Sometimes we all can use the reminder that our bodies can move and feel better.

Healing Treasures Massage
Hello Treasured You,
I hope this finds you doing wonderfully well as we roll into the new-ness of 2021.
I count it an honor to be partnering with you on your self-care journey and I have exciting news to share with you. Beginning with this letter I am instituting a new format that offers consistent helps, tips, advice, and care in hopes of encouraging you in your day to day wellness. In each monthly email, you will find
~Office Updates~ ~Fun Trivia~ ~Hydration Recipes~ ~Self Care~ & ~Special Offers~
I hope you find it fun, beneficial and supportive. Let’s get started……
Office Happenings: You asked and I listened. There are now products for sale in the office that are designed to help with relief, relaxation, and support in your daily wellness. There is an array of CBD products, bath salts, muscle rubs, Tune Up therapy balls, lotion, and neck cradles. Everything has been chosen with attention to quality and detail while still being easy on finances.
January Calendar Trivia: Some days, it is easy to see the sun shine. Other days it can take a bit more effort. Just for fun, I thought I would share some calendar days that can bring a smile.
8 slices Granny Smith apple
5 slices fresh ginger
2 - 1-inch pieces lemongrass
Combine water, Granny Smith apple, ginger, and lemongrass in a 32-fluid ounce Mason jar or pitcher. Stir gently, cover, and refrigerate until flavors combine, at least 1 hour.
Self Care: Here is a quick breathing exercise you can use anytime, anywhere to help you calm the nervous system, increase focus, and reduce stress:
'Pay What You Can' - While I believe everyone can benefit from the value that massage therapy offers, not everyone has the financial means of receiving a session. Because of this, since the first day I opened my practice, I have offered a ‘Pay What You Can’ to those who are in need. It is based on the honor system in respecting the different financial seasons we can all be in. It offers 1-60 minute therapy session per month. If you find yourself in a season of needing massage but needing a financial break, let’s talk.
'Pay It Forward' – At times, folks feel led to help balance out the finances of someone else’s massage in the 'Pay What You Can' program. While it is not a tax deductible donation, the good Samaritan heart rewards are bountiful. If you feel that you would like to make a cash donation into this program please let me know.
Tipping - Thank you for your understanding these past few months as we have transitioned into not receiving tips. I appreciate your generosity in wanting to monetarily say thank you and value your respect to my request. I would not want tipping to ever be a source of awkwardness or emotional expectation for anyone. Rather, not tipping allows for other opportunities like you being able to save up your funds to come in more often. Alternatively, if you would like, your cash “tips” can instead be rolled into a Pay It Forward donation.
Gift Certificates and Pre Paids: I have a beautiful new supply of gift certificates printed up for whenever you want to share with your loved ones. Also for your convenience, there is a button on my website for purchasing e-certificates and scheduling appointments when time is of essence.
And the pre-paid is always an option in saving money for established clients. Using this feature can save you up to 10% on appointments and does not have expiration date. Let me know if you would like to know more about either of these great options.
Thank you for taking the time to let me share with you today. I appreciate you and am so grateful for your trust in your wellness support. Myself and Healing Treasures Massage are here for you and because of you.
Peace and wellness to you

Hello Treasured You,
I hope this finds you doing well. In this month's email issue, you will find info on the following:
For the rest of this month, all 60 minute and longer prepaid sessions and gift certificates are 10% off. You can contact me to arrange payment or purchase via the button on my website. Be sure to use the code: 2020JOYFOCUS to receive your discount.
My Celebrations As always, I pursue more learning of the different things I can offer to you in therapy sessions. Covid has proved to be slightly challenging in being able to attend hands on classes. All the same, I have been blessed in pursuing opportunities for prenatal support and pediatric massage. Most recently I was able to put knowledge to the experience in being part of the professional support team that birthed our newest grandbaby. Not only was it beautiful on a personal level for me, but also being able to see first hand how massage can offer real support in the moment and bring measured relief.
I am so grateful for the opportunities I am able to be part of. To partner with you in your wellness journey as you share your aches, pains, and stresses. Thank you for your trust. Healing Treasures Massage is here because of you.
If I don't see you before the end of the holidays, be well, be safe, and have a wonderful time making all the heart filled memories you can.
Owner & Oregon LMT #24125
Hello wonderful you,
I hope this finds you warm, refreshed, and well. Now that we are settling into November, I want to check in with you about a couple of things as I ponder how best I can partner with you in your self care journey.
In this email you will find the following topics:
Feeling Sick That being said, this is the time of year where colder temperatures can encourage colds, flus, and the like. If you are feeling buggy at all; please know you will not be charged a fee for rescheduling. We all cherish our needed massage therapy times but it is so much better to err on the side of caution then on the side on the side of regret.
Other Illnesses Along with the regular wintery types of germs; the extra stress of this year has also brought on higher numbers of other types of illnesses. These stress induced illnesses can often show through our skin because one of the many functions of our skin is to signal to us when our inner body is fighting something. These signals can be things like cold sores, shingles, bacterial lesions, and rashes. Sometimes these situations warrant putting a temporary pause on massage or a different way of doing massage. No matter the situation, your health safety is always my first concern. If you have a health condition that you are not sure of for your appointment, let's talk about it before hand so that we can make the best possible healthy choice for your wellness.
Scheduling I have the online scheduler running on my website again. You can still schedule with me via email, text, and phone. But if you like the convenience of jumping online yourself, you will find my website easy to navigate. HealingTreasuresMassageTherapy.com
Holiday Gift Certificates We are approaching the holiday gift giving season and gift certificates for your loved ones will be available at a discount. Let me know if you would like me to set some aside for you.
In Office Products Speaking of special things, I am considering having a few items available in my office in general for your benefit. Would you find it helpful if I carried certain products or therapeutic helps? If so, what types of things would you like me to carry? Some ideas would be: CBD products, bath salts, essential oils, diffusers, self help massage tools, lotions, salt lamps, etc.... Just hit reply to this email and let me know your opinion.
Peace and wellness to you

Hello Treasured You,
I hope this finds you doing wonderfully well and enjoying your summer in the best way possible. I have a few things to share here so please take a quick look when you can.
I am incredibly thankful for you. This first month of being able to schedule appointments again has been so wonderful. Everyone has been great in understanding the new guidelines for practice within the best health and safety standards possible. Thank you to all of you for your ease in this transition.
To tip or not to tip 'tis the question. This has been a point of discussion in many recent sessions as I have turned off the tipping feature of my card reader. Many of you have requested it be turned back on. That blesses me more than you can imagine. Thank you for the outward act of love that you want to shower upon me. At this time however, I am choosing to keep it off for a couple of reasons:
Paying It Forward: As you can attest, massage therapy helps not only for sudden injuries but also helps to maintain quality of life levels in chronic every day care. There are times when I receive calls from someone who is in need of care but their financial situation threatens to make that care an impossibility. If you know me at all, you know I won't turn anyone away. I believe that quality massage care makes a difference and everyone deserves to experience that change. If you would like to partner with me in donating (any amount) towards the care of another, please let me know. It would not be a tax deductible giving, but I would make sure it helps provide massage for someone who would otherwise not benefit.
Reminder of September Rate Increase. This is my first ever increase and I do not plan on having another for quite a long time. As always, if this is a huge hardship, please let me know so we can discuss options available to you. Beginning September the new rates will be as follows:
Regular Massage Session:
August 2020 Pre-Paid Discounted Packages
Scheduling: thank you for your understanding in contacting me right now for appointments. Eventually I will have the online scheduling feature turned back on. For now, you are welcome to contact me through any of these means to schedule an appointment:
As always, I do all that I can to support your wellness journey. Please keep in mind that massage therapy is a support therapy and not a diagnostic service. If you have concerns regarding any signs or symptoms that your body is showing you, it is always wise and safe to check with your acting physician.
Thank you for trusting me and allowing me to take part in your wellness journey. Peace to you

Healing Treasures Massage
I have a deep passion for helping others. Really that is the bottom line. Helping people be released from discomfort. Helping people be present in the life they are given. Helping people know that they are each valuable original treasures unlike no one else ever. To humbly be part of seeing a person hold onto whatever peace they need at that present time. Yes that is my passion.
