It is important for you to know that I take health wellness seriously.
While I am very conscious about being careful to clean and take all necessary steps  (and then some) that are authorized by OHA, The State of Oregon, and OBMT; there is not enough science at this moment to support 100% verified effectiveness in Covid-19 protection. With this in mind, here are things you need to know about receiving massage right now.

Coronavirus/Covid-19 is a new virus that we are continuing to learn more about.
It is an illness that can spread from person to person. COVID19 symptoms can range from no symptoms at all to mild to severe and may have a negative impact on respiratory and cardiovascular systems including blood clots and strokes.

Massage therapy and bodywork involves
sustained contact, touch, and close physical proximity over an extended period of time so that there may be an elevated risk of communicable disease transmission, including COVID-19.

What can you do to help be covid compliant while receiving massage?
  • Fill out your pre-session intake form that gets sent to your email. This is so important.
  • Think about how you are feeling in general. Do you have a new or worsening cough, lethargy, temperature, respiratory shortness of breath, extreme digestive distress? These are symptoms that can point to many different things. Please reschedule for a future time. Yes massage is a wonderful thing to look forward to.  I know rescheduling is an emotional and physical let down. But it is so much safer and considerate to re-book when you feel good and gain the full benefit of massage, as well as knowing you are being safe for others.
  • Wear a mask when you arrive. If you do not have one, let me know and I can provide you with one.
  • Bring your own water. At this time I am unable to offer refreshments.
  • Think “minimalist” in what you bring to the office. This means take off any jewelry and leave extra bags / purses / unneeded layers at home or in your vehicle before coming in to the office. The less you have with you means the fewer items that random germs can attach to.

You tested covid positive a while back and no longer have symptoms. Can you receive massage?
This is a time where I would ask you have written consent from your doctor that you are fine to receive massage. As with any other pathology, I want you to be informed and knowledgeable about your body. Please be aware that there is much to learn about covid in the coming months. Current science shows that covid positive clients can have blood clots systemically throughout their body. Massage definitely can stir the circulatory system, inadvertently moving / dislodging clots. This does not mean “be scared” or that “you can never have massage again”. It only means that I want you to be informed and knowledgeable in your choices.

What am I doing to be covid compliant?
  • I have basically revamped practically all office and treatment furniture. This includes replacing all upholstered chairs to faux leather for easy cleaning between sessions. I purchased a HEPA air filtration machine to clean the air, invested in lidded trash and laundry receptacles, and replaced all basket cabinetry with solid closed doors and drawers.
  • First thing each morning the bathroom and kitchen are cleaned/disinfected. In between each session my office is completely disinfected and I now change my uniform scrub top to be sanitary fresh for each client.
  • I now have scheduled 45 minutes in between each session so that I can give full attention to cleaning as well as my own personal needs that help me to be completely present for you during your session time.
  • The treatment table is sanitized and then made fresh each session from top to bottom new and includes protective cover, sheets, blanket, all needed towels and pillow cases.
  • For the whole session you will find me wearing 2 masks (a surgical mask and a cloth mask). Also at times I will be wearing a face shield on top of that.
  • Lotions and oils are now pre-set “single serving style” instead of from a larger dispenser.
  • Hand sanitizer is readily available in multiple locations for your convenience.

What does session check in look like now?
  • Arrive 5 minutes early for the check in process. It is completely understandable that life and hurried situations happen. Purposing to arrive a few minutes early lends respect to being able to receive that maximum benefit to your therapeutic session time.
  • If you need a mask please let me know and I can provide you with one on your arrival.
  • When you arrive, please ring the door bell as usual. I will meet you outside to take your temperature and ask a few questions. This is mandated by the state for contact tracing. *I have formulated a separate filing system for this that protects the privacy of your in depth charting and treatment history.
  • If you have a fever or symptoms of cough or respiratory shortness of breath; we will need to reschedule. There is no penalty fee for this. It is simply to protect your well being as well as that of others.
  • If you are cleared to enter the building, you will then be asked to wash your hands per state guidelines which applies to our situation of extended close contact with one another.
  • Once inside my private office area, we will proceed as normal with discussing how best massage therapy will benefit you at that time.

Do you have to wear a mask while receiving massage?
Yes. Wearing a mask the whole time is the request of my office.  I have purposed to wear a mask while receiving my own massage so that I can know firsthand what it feels like and I actually forgot I had it on. That being said, if you have a medical condition that makes mask wearing difficult, please let me know. There are adjustments I can make while you are laying face down for open breathing.

How do you book an appointment?
