Body Helps & Stress Tips There is no denying that this year feels different. We hear it and experience it everywhere. Like everyone else, you are looking to make the best of a situation which you didn't ask for. You feel it at work. You feel it at home. You may have loved ones feeling sick from one illness or another. You may even be fighting your own ailments. No matter how much you are working at having a positive attitude, you may still feel the subtle effects of the world around you. Here are some loving reminders that you hear me say often:

• If your body feels stiff, achy, is sore - your body is asking for change. Motion Is Lotion. Get up from that spot right now and move for a few minutes. Circulate your blood flow and energy. More than an hour in the same position is hard on the body.
• Stress is a culprit and so is the cold weather. Our shoulders were never meant to be earrings. A dear colleague taught me this truth years ago. Drop your arms, roll your shoulders back and take a full body breath of torso filled air. As you breathe out, let your shoulders fall back and down more. Do this a few times for tension relief.
• Feeling your head buzz with a myriad of thoughts that disrupts your ability to form a complete thought? Pause and take some super full breaths. Hold your air in for a few seconds and then push it out slow. Do this a few times. When we are focused on the stuff around us we tend to shallow breathe. Taking those moments for full breath is oxygen to the rescue.

My Celebrations As always, I pursue more learning of the different things I can offer to you in therapy sessions. Covid has proved to be slightly challenging in being able to attend hands on classes. All the same, I have been blessed in pursuing opportunities for prenatal support and pediatric massage. Most recently I was able to put knowledge to the experience in being part of the professional support team that birthed our newest grandbaby. Not only was it beautiful on a personal level for me, but also being able to see first hand how massage can offer real support in the moment and bring measured relief.
