Hello Treasured You,

I hope this finds you doing wonderfully well. Though I find it seemingly impossible that January is already gone, I look with pleasure to celebrating February with you. Here are all our important and fun updates for this month.

~Office Updates~
Now that folks are starting to receive the vaccine, here is an easy guideline for questions you may have.
Do you still need to wear your mask? For my practice, until the state guidelines change (including the OBMT Board and OHA) we will continue to wear masks as an added means of using safe precautions while interacting together. This includes all people who have either recovered from testing positive in the past or have received the vaccine.
When receiving massage, as you settle into the face down position, I do have the face cradle set up in a way that you can safely remove your mask if needed. In the face up or side laying positions, I do require that a mask be on.
For myself, I will be continuing to wear 2 masks at all times. I will also continue to wear my face shield when working close to your face.
Do you have to have the vaccine to receive massage? No. Some therapists are choosing to run their practice with a yes to that question. I will not make absolute statements like that. Instead, I would rather think about the comfort levels and health of each person in taking a vaccine. Some people have an immune system that isn't ready for the vaccine and that is ok. We will continue to do the pre-screening at the door and I will trust that you will continue to let me know when you are not feeling well.
If you have any questions about this, please let me know. I would be happy to discuss this more.

~Fun Trivia~
Fun calendar trivia helps to shake up the routine.  Here are a few dates to keep in mind.
February 9: National Pizza Day – Here are 50 pizza recipes to try if you want to celebrate National Pizza Day with a homemade pie. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/articles/50-easy-pizzas
February 11: National Inventors Day - Take a moment to think about how our lives have been improved through the use of inventions. Thank you to all the inventors out there.
February 14: Valentine's Day – It is all too easy for a schedule to get bogged down with responsibility. To me, this holiday is an intentional reminder to stop and appreciate all the forms of love in our lives. So, to you I say - Happy Valentine’s Day!
February 17: Random Acts of Kindness Day – Who gains more benefit, the giver or receiver? Kindness is such a beautiful gesture all around. Here are some terrific ideas for random acts of kindness. https://www.randomactsofkindness.org/kindness-ideas

~Recipes~
Apple Water
  • Ingredients:
  • 8 slices Granny Smith apple
  • 5 slices fresh ginger
  • 2 1-inch pieces lemongrass
  • Water
  • Instructions: Combine water, Granny Smith apple, ginger, and lemongrass in a 32-fluid ounce Mason jar or pitcher. Stir gently, cover, and refrigerate until flavors combine, at least 1 hour.

My Favorite Vegetarian Chili
  • In a large skillet or deep pot, sauté: 1 TBSP olive oil with the following
  • Diced: 1 onion, 3 cloves garlic, 1 jalapeño, 1 carrot, 2 celery stalks, 1 green bell pepper, 1 red bell pepper, 1 zucchini
  • Add: 2 cans black beans & 1 can red beans, 3 cans diced tomatoes, 1 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 2 or 3 TBSP chili powder, 1 TBSP cumin, salt & pepper to taste.
  • Simmer 20-30 minutes to preferred doneness.
  • Serve over rice or quinoa for extra goodness and garnish with options like vegan shredded cheese, avocado, and green onion

~Self Care~
Here is the Pacific NW we are entering that time of year where we can feel the moisture settle into our bones and wonder just how many shades of grey are in the sky.  Many studies show that taking ample amounts of Vitamin D can help with lifting our mood. Seasonal Affective Disorder can affect everyone so another great option is to invest in a SAD lamp. I purchased one this year for my office. While I started out being skeptical, I can now say it really does make a difference for me personally.

~Special Offers~
Epsom salts can be one of those household items that we all tend to have at one point or another. If you are anything like me, you might wonder if that bag of Epsom salts stashed under the bathroom counter was all used up or if it is rock hard from sitting so long.
After a therapeutic deep tissue massage session, a 15 minute salt soak can be greatly beneficial. For your convenience, I have single use salt packs available so you don’t have to ponder freshness. Available scents are:
  • Eucalyptus Spruce
  • Sore Muscle
  • Peppermint Rosemary
  • Cedar Sage
  • Tuscan Bouquet
  • Lavender
  • Epsom
  • Balancing

As I wrap up this update, I want to sincerely express my thankfulness to you in trusting me to partner with you in your wellness journey. Thank you for your referrals as well. When you share on social media and to the loves in your life, it encourages other to know that there are options to their discomforts and stresses. Sometimes we all can use the reminder that our bodies can move and feel better.

I am here for you. You can reach me with any inquiries by hitting reply to this email. Scheduling is also easily done on my website HealingTreasuresMassageTherapy.com

Peace and wellness to you,

I have a deep passion for helping others.  Really that is the bottom line. Helping people be released from discomfort. Helping people be present in the life they are given. Helping people know that they are each valuable original treasures unlike no one else ever. To humbly be part of seeing a person hold onto whatever peace they need at that present time. Yes that is my passion.
